This was my first time here. I went for Chinese New Year and Jow Ga Kung Fu did the Dragon Dance, Lion Dance, and demonstration. It was very fun. The food was great. I ordered Curry Tofu. The tofu was fried just right and the curry sauce was excellent. Not too spicy and a hint of sweetness. For dessert I would definitely recommend you try the Chinese Donuts. They were fresh out the oven and melted in my mouth. They weren’t loaded in sugar, like other places. They used a good amount of powdered sugar, just enough to add extra sweetness. The staff was very friendly and easy to talk to granted it was a full house due to the Chinese New Year celebration. If I had one recommendation to them, it would be to update the decor. Other than that, everything was excellent. I would definitely go there again. They have more vegetarian food to try!

Forbidden City in Virginia Beach is by no way forbidden for Vegetarians. They have a nice selection of vegetarian dim sum and vegetarian entrees such as General’s Tofu, Ma Po Tofu, and Sesame Tofu.

We came during lunchtime on a Saturday and it wasn’t very busy at all. The atmosphere is nice and the booths are very private with curtains draped at the ends. I ended up ordering Sesame Tofu with Vegetable Gao on the side. The Sesame Tofu was delicious while the Vegetable Gao (for me) wasn’t as tasty. I don’t really like mushrooms and the Vegetable Gao had a very strong mushroom taste. I didn’t try this but my friend had the Curry Samosas (which the waitress assured us had no meat) and they said it was delicious.

Prices are fairly reasonable with $6.75 for a lunch entrée. I would definitely recommend Forbidden City for vegetarian Chinese food.
